It concatenates all scripts and styles minifies and compresses them adds expires word caches them and moves styles to the page head and scripts optionally to the foot.
With the Autoptimize configuration the CSS is linked in the head which is default but has Google PageSpeed Insights complaining.
As from Autoptimize 1.9.0 this is not hard select. inline and CSS. paste the block of. not below the CSS. in the input field area and you're best to go...
Initially I gave 1 star I had constant issues with the cache growing to number resulting in constant stream of emails daily coming from this plugin telling me to clear the cache.
Frank the author then told be to shift some settings which I did and the cache seems to be under control also MB of GB.
Improvement for AMP pages which beautiful qualify Autoptimize will not optimize to avoid files with e.g.. inline & defer. and with AO adding predicts to link-tags that are not allowed in the range of HTML that AMP is.
