Just install the plugin and you'll then be able to upload favicon for your site..
Upload x 16px image for normal support or x 32px for retina-support.

Captain Favicon in Add New Plugin section of your site or download it and upload it manually..
Visit Captain Favicon Settings page found under your Settings..
Upload favicon or select previously uploaded one from your Media Library..
Keep in mind that all image sizes will work, it's just advised to make your image square...
