This is WordPress plugin which allows adminstrator to convert images in the folder.
You go the the tools -> CITM page and select the images you want to convert..
Then the image will be convert to media item and moved to subfolder if you have set up month and year folders..

Upload Convert image to media to the wp-content plugins directory...
Activate the plugin through 'Plugins WordPress...
