Under 'Portfolio option, you will ' Portfolio Options You will need to read through this section, you can set your permalink structure for your portfolio item pages from http yourdomain com cr3ativportfolio yourportfoliotitle as well as 'Portfolio Category url from http yourdomain com portfolio-category yourportfoliocategoryname.
Below the regular content editor you should see new section named 'Portfolio Info ...
Add image for your portfolio item this will be used on the main index page displaying all your portfolio items but will not display on the single page, that should be accomplished by adding images to your content area...
On the right of the page while creating your portfolio item you will see box named 'Portfolio Category you can add or assign categories to this portfolio item in WordPress...
Add your 'Portfolio index page to your menu by going to 'Appearance > 'Menus in the admin and drag or add to your menu...
You can use whatever widgets you want here or you could use the new drag drop 'Cr3ativ Portfolio Loop and follow the on screen prompts for selecting how many columns, how many to display, if you would like order and from what category.
Anyone who has tried to use Jetpack's portfolio custom post type and got frustrated with no option of changing the portfolio slug, will appreciate the latter features..
BTW, I realize I need to learn more about and get more proficient with custom post types, but it's nice to know that until I have time to sit down put myself through the paces to become confident with aspect of WordPress, there is I can use right now to keep momentum going forward on my projects
