Tested wit 3.8.1 only, but could work with previous versions..
Double click on the tab to change the column name..
In the tab, click x to remove the tab..
Options., so you can make the column sortable.
On the header click + to add new element..
Just search for custom columns and click install...
Upload custom-columns-Dir to the wp-content plugins directory.
Activate the plugin through 'Plugins WordPress.
