Functionally it filters all uploads and EXIF->Orientation is set to small than 1 then the image is resaved with orientation before the image is processed by wordpress..
This is the only plugin of its type that I have locate that works with Postie and it does the games perfectly.....
Don't bother downloading other plugins to trade with EXIF rotation files from iPhone pictures this is the plugin you want..
When you upload photo to the books this plugin removes EXIF data and rotates the picture according to EXIF data stripping it.

I want terms to this file and when reading Dave Perrett's excellent post EXIF Orientation values I tried this plugin with the experience test subject GitHub here..
By with WordPress vanilla install usually the subject uploaded to the books and placed in post are not 'corrected and establish orientation.
After adding & demonstrating the plugin deleting the soon and then importing them I got the result.
UPDATE After testing this which didn't work and many other plugins I've confirmed that Fix Image Rotation plugin does work with 4.7.2 version of WordPress vanilla.....
