As the name suggests this plugin will remove 'Category Base from your category permalinks ..
The plugin requires no setup or modifying core wordpress files and will not break any links.
Activate the plugin through 'Plugins in WordPress.
The behavior of WordPress is to add category to your category permalinks if you leave.
Even if they do have the same slug it won't break anything, just the category will get priority.
Suppose you have category 'news, you can add page 'news which will show up in the navigation but will show the 'news category...
When you deactivate the plugin, you need to tell WordPress to refresh its permalink rules.
Update the Category after activating the plugin, in case you have already entered categories...
This is the way the in wordpress should've worked, I wish they'd integrate the functionality of this plugin into the core...
