Using TB Search Menu you can add search item in your menu that will show modern search form when clicked.
All you need to do is activate the plugin and choose the location where you want your search item to be shown..
Go to Plugins > Add New and search for TB Search Menu.
Go to Appearance > Customize > TB Search Menu and select the location you want.
Optional Play with the settings located under the in Customizer...
It would be great to have little more documentation..
With some little CSS adjustments, I installed this on my main website built on Genesis Framework. +1 for autofocusing as finomeno pointed out in his review...
